Who doesn’t want to be an entrepreneur? Most of us definitely want to become an entrepreneur. Many people have so many different reasons why they are interesting to become an entrepreneur. Becoming rich – have a good standard of living is always attached to a successful entrepreneur. Before we start to become an entrepreneur, let’s think what kind of business we should be in? What product / service should we offer to the market?
So many people tend to think that they want to find an amazing idea that is so new that no one ever found it before on the market. They try to make a product / service that are very hard or even impossible to be made right now. Do we need that kind of idea to be success? Do we have enough resources to create and bring those products and services to the market?
In fact, so many products actually fail on the market because it’s too new, too complicated for the customer to grasp. New products that change behavior or contain some unusual ingredients require education to the market. To educate the market definitely we need a lot of resources. Hence, it is not a wise decision for startups with limited resources to get into a business that is so new and need to educate their customers.
According to Stephen Key (2012) a simple idea is any product that is easy to communicate, make, and sell. Starting with a simple idea is the best way to go, because so many great ideas out there, but if nobody wants to buy it or it cannot be produced because it’s too complicated, then what’s the point? You cannot make any money from it!
Moreover, even a simple idea, it doesn’t mean you just copy and paste any products or services available on the market. The market often does not accept / welcome a me-too product. In business it’s not only creating products that satisfy you as the owner, but you need to satisfy your customers and meet their needs! Remember your revenue comes from your customers, so make sure that your products and services makes them happy and becoming your loyal customers in the future. Make your customers as your first priority and satisfy them, the profit will comes afterwards. Do not ever make profit as your first priority and sacrifice your customers, because it might bring your business down.
So what is your business idea? Do you prefer a new invention or a simple idea? No matter what your business idea is, the most important thing is ACT on it, make it REAL or it will be just a dream that never come true.
